Focus Pack was built so that your focus history stays yours. The app needs no account, shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking SDK. This policy explains what is stored, where, and what you can do about it. It covers the Focus Pack apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, the Linux command-line client, the optional sync service and this website.
Who is responsible
The controller is COFFEE BYTES, UNIPESSOAL LDA, Avenida Infante, No. 8, Edifício Executivo, 2. K, 9000-015 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, email contact@coffee-bytes.io (“we”). You can reach us at that address for every question in this policy.
What the app stores on your device
- Sessions: start and end time, planned and focused length, the skill, the tag you chose and an optional note.
- Companions: the companions you adopted, the names you gave them and their needs (mood, tummy, energy, bones).
- Achievements: which stickers you earned and when.
- Settings: session defaults, daily goal, tags, Do Not Disturb strategy, rewards you picked.
This data lives in a database inside the app’s own container on your device, where the widgets and the Watch app read it too. Levels and statistics are computed from it on the device. Deleting the app deletes this data. We never see it.
iCloud
If iCloud is turned on for Focus Pack, your sessions, companions and achievements are mirrored to your private iCloud database so that your Apple devices stay in sync. That database belongs to your Apple ID; Apple processes it under its own privacy policy and we cannot read it. Turn iCloud off for Focus Pack in the system settings to stop this.
Sync across devices (optional)
Settings → Sync lets you continue a session on another device, including Linux. When you turn it on, the app creates an anonymous account on our server; your device proves it is a genuine installation through Apple’s App Attest. We never ask for a name or an email address. The server then stores, for that anonymous account:
- finished sessions, companions and achievements as described above, so other devices can show them;
- the running session, which device owns it and whether Do Not Disturb is on;
- an identifier and the name of each paired device, a device token that authenticates it, and when it last synced;
- a push notification token for your iPhone or iPad, used only to send a silent push when the session changes on another device.
The server runs on Hetzner infrastructure in the European Union. Its access logs contain IP addresses for security purposes and are kept for up to 30 days. To monitor the service, the server records anonymous technical events (for example that a sync happened) with the analytics service PostHog under the anonymous account identifier; these events contain no names, email addresses, session notes or tags.
Legal basis: performance of the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Remove a device under Settings → Sync → Devices to delete its token; removing every device deletes the account and all data behind it within 30 days.
Linux client
The focus command stores the same data in plain JSON files in your home directory and syncs
through the service above once you pair it with a code. Nothing else leaves your machine.
Do Not Disturb, alarms and notifications
Do Not Disturb is switched through Apple’s Shortcuts app or a Focus filter on your device; the alarm and the Live Activity are system features. None of this involves our server. The Linux client controls the notification daemon on your machine.
This website
- Hosting: focuspack.app is served by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare processes the IP address and request details of every visit to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We do not run analytics or advertising scripts on this site.
- Preferences: choosing a language sets a cookie named
fp-lang, and choosing a theme storesfocuspack-themein your browser. Both exist only to remember your choice. - Contact form: your name, email address, topic and message, together with the country the request came from and your browser’s identifier, are stored with Cloudflare for up to one year so that we can answer you. Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw by writing to us.
Purchases
Focus Pack is free at the moment. Should paid features arrive, purchases will be processed by Apple through the App Store; Apple provides us with anonymised sales information only.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal data about you and give you a copy (access);
- correct inaccurate data (rectification);
- delete your data (erasure);
- restrict how we process it, or object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive the data you provided in a portable format;
- withdraw a consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.
Because the sync account is anonymous, we can only act on data that your device identifies; the fastest way to exercise these rights for sync data is Settings → Sync → Devices. For everything else write to contact@coffee-bytes.io; we answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Portugal the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), or with the authority of the country you live in.
Children
Focus Pack asks for no account and no personal details and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this policy when the app or the services change, and show the date of the last change at the top. Material changes to how sync data is processed will also be announced in the app.
